SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Just three weeks and six games remain of the 2019-20 basketball season and before the start of the Southland Conference postseason tournament and the McNeese Cowboys are still vying for their spot as one of eight teams to compete.
They'll get a chance to take one step closer on Wednesday when they visit Incarnate Word at 7 p.m. at UIW's McDermott Center. The game will broadcast live on McNeese Learfield IMG College Sports on 1290 AM and CajunRadio.com.
The Cowboys (12-13, 7-7) have dropped four straight games, all by single digits and by an average of six points, but in still position to claim a first round bye – Sam Houston State is in fourth place with five league losses.
McNeese's next four opponents are the bottom four teams in the league standings and have a combined 14-44 conference record.
UIW (8-17, 5-9) is coming off a one point win over New Orleans and has won three of its last four games, including a upset overtime win over Sam Houston State.
The Cowboys defeated the Cardinals 72-56 back on Jan. 15 in the H&HP Arena and hold a 6-1 all-time lead in the series.
