ABILENE – McNeese saw its two-match streak without a loss come to an end on Sunday when the Cowgirls dropped a 7-0 decision to Abilene Christian in women's tennis action.
 
The loss was the first in league play for McNeese who falls to 2-8-1 overall and 1-1 in the conference.
 
McNeese dropped the doubles point after the team of Matilde Mulatero and Sofia San Jose Moreno fell in the No. 1 doubles by a 6-2 score. The Cowgirls began the match down 0-1 due to having to forfeit the No. 3 doubles with a lack of players. McNeese currently has just five healthy players on the roster.
 
Mulatero put up a good fight in the No. 4 singles before falling 6-1, 4-6, 6-3 while Hanna Blinouskaya challenged ACU's Ileana Mocciola in the No. 5 match, falling 6-2, 5-7, 6-4.
 
None of the other three singles matches were runaways for the Wildcats.
 
In the No. 1 singles, McNeese's Marija Mastilovic fell 6-1, 7-5; Carlotta Romito 6-4, 7-5 in No. 2 and San Jose Moreno 6-3, 7-5 in the No. 3 matchup.
 
ACU improved to 6-7 overall and 2-0 in league play with the win.
 
The Cowgirls will be back in action on Friday when they host Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at noon to open up a five-match home stand.
