Roydell Brown named SLC All-Academic

FRISCO, Texas – McNeese senior guard Roydell Brown has been named to the Southland Conference All-Academic Men's Basketball Second Team, the league office announced on Tuesday in conjunction with the release of the 2019-20 SLC All-Academic teams.
 
Brown, a native of New Orleans who just wrapped up a two-year playing career with the Cowboys, compiled a 3.05 GPA in general studies and is on schedule to graduate this May.
 
During the season, Brown averaged 9.1 points and 8.0 rebounds while starting all 32 games in leading the Cowboys to a 15-17 overall record and 10-10 in conference play as well as the program's first postseason appearance in four years. He ranked second on the team and fourth in the conference in rebounding and was 18th in the league with 2.5 assists per game.
 
HBU's Ian DuBose was named the league's Student-Athlete of the Year with a 3.84 GPA in kinesiology.
