Cowgirls Return Home To Host Nicholls

Following road wins at New Orleans and Southeastern Louisiana, McNeese women's basketball returns to Burton Coliseum for a brief stint when they will host Nicholls on Wednesday. Tipoff is set for 6:30 p.m. The game can will be streamed on mcneesesports.com and can be heard on talk1470.com with Ron Hayes and Tom Hoefer on the call.
 
McNeese (4-7, 4-0 SLC) enters the game as one of three undefeated teams in the league along with Stephen F. Austin (6-0) and Houston Baptist (1-0).
 
Due to COVID 19 protocol the Cowgirls will be without head coach Kacie Cryer, assistant coach Patrece Carter and junior guard Mychala Linzy. Cryer and Linzy will also miss the Lamar game on Saturday while Carter will return to the sideline Saturday.
 
Junior Divine Tanks will return to the court Wednesday after having missed the last two games due to COVID 19 protocol. Tanks leads the team with 5.3 rpg. and is second on the team in scoring with 8.7 ppg.
 
Sophomore Kyla Hamilton and junior Le'Shenae Stubblefield are coming off career games. Hamilton scored a career high 25 points against Southeastern La. along with a career high eight rebounds. Hamilton leads the Cowgirls in scoring with 9.7 ppg. and assists with 2.5 per game. She is second on the team with 4.5 rpg.
 
Stubblefield has scored 20 or more points in the last two games and bettered her career high in each of the last two games. She scored a career high 20 points in the win over New Orleans then bettered that mark with 22 points at Southeastern La. She is averaging 21.0 ppg. in the last two outings.   
 
Nicholls (5-8, 4-2 SLC) is coming off a 67-56 home win against UNO last Saturday and will be looking for its first road win of the season where they are 0-7. The Colonels are led in scoring and rebounds by sophomore Chelsea Cain's 16.9 ppg. and 7.7 rpg.
