Cowgirls visit SLC rival Lamar in non-conference match

| By:
BEAUMONT - McNeese Cowgirl tennis will return to action on Monday following a nine-day layoff in between matches when it visits Lamar in a non-conference match.

First serve is slated for 1 p.m. at the Thompson Family Tennis Center.

The Cowgirls will enter the match 0-4 with losses to Rice, Houston and SMU. Lamar is 2-1 on the year, having beaten Prairie View and UTRGV to open the season and coming off a loss to Tarleton State in its most recent action this past Saturday.

"We're definitely excited to be playing Lamar, even tough it's not officially a conference match, it will still feel like one," said Cowgirl head coach Giorgia Pozzan. "We've been preparing throughout the whole week and had a solid week of practice. We worked on a lot of things that we saw at the SMU matches. Tomorrow I think will be a good test to see where we are after the first couple of weeks of the season.

"The girls are very excited to get an early look at a conference team."

McNeese and Lamar will meet against on March 5 in Beaumont for a Southland Conference contest.

The Cowgirls has added another match to its schedule, a Feb. 21 contest at Louisiana-Lafayette at 2 p.m.
