LAKE CHARLES – McNeese returns to Southland Conference action on Saturday when it hosts Northwestern State, one week after dropping a league opening decision to Central Arkansas.

McNeese (6-4, 0-1), who played without the nation's No. 2 rebounder in KeyShawn Feazell in that game and saw it get beat on the boards by 15, will welcome back the 6-foot-9 big man against the Demons.

Tip-off is scheduled for 4 p.m. at Burton Coliseum and will follow a 1 o'clock women's game between the two schools. The game will broadcast live on the McNeese Radio Network (92.1 FM and mymagiclc.com) and will stream live on Cowboy Insider on the McNeese sports website.

Feazell has missed the last three games due to COVID protocol and hasn't seen action since December 18.

"It'll be great to get him back but it'll take a little time for him to get his rhythm back because he hasn't played in almost a month," said head coach Heath Schroyer. "He's a really good rebounder and has a presence, but I think that the thing that's exciting for all of us to have him back, is that he's a great kid, a hard worker, a connector on the floor. He's mature and understands the big picture."

Feazell is averaging a double-double on the season – 13.1 points and 13.0 rebounds, ranking him No. 1 in the conference and second in the nation in rebounding. Prior to going into quarantine, he recorded four straight double-doubles, giving him five on the season.

Feazell is one of four Cowboy players averaging double-figures in scoring on the season, led by Dru Kuxhausen with a 14.0 mark. A.J. Lawson follows with an 11.7 average and Collin Warren is contributing with 11.4 points per game.

NSU (1-12, 0-2 SLC) has dropped seven straight games and is 0-10 away from home, but the Demons have played one of the toughest pre-conference schedules, including two games at No. 1-ranked Gonzaga and a season-opener at then 14th-ranked Texas Tech.

"It's another league opponent and every game in league is really important and especially ones that are at home," said Schroyer." We've had a good week (of practice) and the guys are excited to play. We're taking it one day at a time."

NSU is led in scoring by Tenton Massner's 12.0 average while Jairus Roberson follows with an 11.5 mark.

Saturday's game will be the 129th meeting in the series with McNeese holding a slight 65-63 lead. The two teams split last year's series.
