SAN ANTONIO, Texas—After falling behind 2-0, McNeese's offense found its rhythm and went on to win the next three sets to complete a 3-2 (21-25, 21-25, 25-13, 25-20, 15-11) Southland Conference volleyball come from behind win over Incarnate Word here Saturday.
It didn't look good early on for the Cowgirls (10-8, 4-3 SLC) who committed a combined 19 hitting errors in the first two sets. McNeese settled down and committed a total of only 11 hitting errors in the final three sets. The loss dropped UIW to 8-13 overall and 3-4 in the SLC.
Following intermission, McNeese put together an impressive third set including a .520 team hitting percent, committing only one hitting error on its way to a 25-13 third set win to cut the UIW overall match lead in half.
The Cowgirls carried their third set momentum into the fourth set and with the set tied at 14 all, McNeese scored four straight points to lead 18-14. Late in the set, kills by
Kendall Glueck and
Jaylin Gordon helped the Cowgirls to the fourth set win to even the match at two sets apiece.
McNeese took an early 6-3 and then a 7-5 lead in the fifth set before UIW took a 9-7 lead after scoring four straight points behind back-to-back service aces. Following a Cowgirl timeout, McNeese responded by scoring the next six points to take a 13-9 lead.
A kill by Glueck put the Cowgirls up 14-10, then following a UIW point,
Macee Krpec's kill on set point completed the Cowgirl comeback with a 15-11 fifth set win.
Glueck had a career match, leading all players with a career high 16 kills and tied her career high with seven blocks along with a .351 hitting percent.
