LAKE CHARLES—Macee Krpec came off the bench to pick up 10 kills to lead McNeese volleyball to a straight set (25-21, 25-15, 25-23) Southland Conference win over New Orleans Saturday to improve to 8-6 overall and 2-1 in the SLC. The loss drops UNO to 1-10 on the year and 1-2 in the SLC.
 
McNeese took the lead in the opening set and never looked back, taking a 24-20 lead on a Regan Stiawalt kill before Jaylin Gordon ended the match on a kill.
 
In the second set, McNeese scored the first four points to lead 4-0 and continued to build on its lead. With the Cowgirls leading 15-10, McNeese scored seven straight points behind Stiawalt's serve to extend their lead to 21-10. The Cowgirls ended the set on Stiawalt kill to take an overall 2-0 lead.
 
McNeese continued to build on the second set victory by opening the final set with three straight points. This set went back and forth the entire set. With the Cowgirls leading 14-12, UNO scored six straight points to take an 18-14 lead, but a Gordon kill and four straight points by the Cowgirls tied the set at 18 apiece. Following three ties with the last one being at 23 apiece, Kendall Glueck put the Cowgirls ahead with a kill then a UNO error gave McNeese the third set win and the overall match victory.
 
Krpec and Jaylin Gordon both ended the match with four blocks while Lizzy Low picked up 13 digs and Ceci Harness was credited with a match high 22 assists.
 
UNO was led in kills by Sh'Diamond Holly who had 11 on the day.
