LAKE CHARLES— McNeese women's basketball returns home this week for two home games beginning with a 5 p.m. contest against Centenary (1-4) Wednesday. The Cowgirls will also host UL-Lafayette on Sunday. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m.
Â
McNeese (2-2) will look to get back into the win column after dropping its last two outings, a 96-72 road loss at Arkansas State on Nov. 15 and most recently a 74-70 road loss at UT-Rio Grande Valley on Sunday.
Â
Slow starts at the beginning of the game and the second half contributed to both losses.
Â
"We experienced slow starts in those games and it came back to get us at the end," said first year head coach
Lynn Kennedy. "We have to be better in all phases of the game."
Â
The Cowgirls, who rank 12
th in the nation in three-point field goals made per game (9.8) are led in scoring and rebounds by
Desirae Hansen. Hansen enters the game averaging 11.5 ppg. and 4.5 rpg. The junior from Rainier, Oregon is coming off a season high 23 points in the loss at UTRGV.
Â
McNeese enters the game averaging 73.6 ppg. with a 45.1 field goal percent and 35.5 three-point field goal percent as well as 16.3 assists per contest.
Â
Centenary opened its season with a 69-64 win over LeTourneau but has since dropped its last six games, two of which were against Division I teams (Northwestern State, UL-Monroe) are considered exhibition contest for the Ladies and don't count against their record. They are coming off a 70-36 road loss at UL-Monroe Tuesday night.
Â
Jazzmyn Jones leads the Ladies in scoring (12.8 ppg.). Addy Tremie is also averaging in double figures (12.4 ppg.) while Jennae Mayberry leads the team with 6.5 rpg.
