Cowgirls visit UCA, NSU to close out road trip

CONWAY – McNeese Cowgirl tennis will wrap up its two-week road swing this weekend when it visits Central Arkansas at 12:30 on Friday and Northwestern State at 11 on Sunday morning in Southland Conference action.
 
The Cowgirls (1-10, 1-3) are coming off a hard-fought 7-2 loss to Lamar on Tuesday. In that match, freshman Natalia Ballo picked up two wins, the first, teaming with Sofia San Jose Moreno to get a 6-2 doubles win. Then later, playing in the No. 4 position in singles, won a gritty 7-6 (8-6), 6-4 match as the only singles win for the Cowgirls. It was also her second singles win in the last three matches.
 
UCA is 2-1 in league play, 7-8 overall, and dropped a 4-3 decision to New Orleans in its last outing. The Sugar Bears won both matches in the 2019 season with the last Cowgirls' win in the series coming in 2018 by way of a 4-3 score.
 
The Lady Demons are 2-3 overall and 1-3 in conference play and defeated Nicholls by a 4-3 score their last time out. NSU will play Southeastern Louisiana on Friday before hosting the Cowgirls.
 
McNeese and NSU has split the last four meetings with NSU winning 4-3 the last time out in 2019.
 
Following Sunday's match, the Cowgirls will return home to play their final six regular season matches at the Nancy Hank Tennis Center, beginning with Houston next Wednesday.
