HAMMOND - Southeastern Louisiana's (3-2-1, 3-2-1 SLC) second half goal by Mya Guillory lifted the Lady Lions to a 2-1 win over McNeese (2-4-1, 2-3-1 SLC) Friday night in Southland Conference action. An early Cowgirl goal, just three minutes into the match, wasn't enough as the Lady Lions would answer with two goals to pick up the win.
1st HALF:
Things looked promising early on for the Blue & Gold after McNeese took the lead early in the third minute. McNeese took an early 1-0 lead when Havana Johnson scored her third goal of the season on an assist from Delana Friesen. Friesen, in her 2021 debut, played 64 minutes in which the junior earned one shot on goal, one assist, and one point in her return. SLU's Makenzie Maher scored the equalizer three minutes later on an assist from Mya Guillory. The Lady Lions outshot McNeese 7-2 in the first half.
2nd HALF:
Things remained tight on both sides throughout the beginning of the second half. It was just over halfway through the second half when Southeastern La. found the back of the net once again to take the lead. This time Guillory scored off an assist credited to Claire Huston. The Pokes could not find an answer and were outshot 9-2 in the half.
