LAKE CHARLES- McNeese softball will continue its homestand this weekend by hosting its second Cowgirls Classic Tournament that will include UTSA (4-2) and Texas Southern (1-4).

The two-day tournament kicks off Friday with a 1 p.m. game between UTSA and Texas Southern. McNeese (3-12) will face Texas Southern at 3:30 p.m. and UTSA at 6 p.m. Friday.

Saturday's action begins at noon with UTSA and Texas Southern followed by the Cowgirls taking on UTSA at 2:30 p.m. and Texas Southern at 5 p.m. to conclude tournament play.

The Cowgirls are coming off a 5-4 home loss against No. 12 UL-Lafayette Wednesday that saw McNeese leading 4-1 heading into the sixth. The Cajuns scored four runs in the sixth to take a 5-4 lead and the eventual win.

At the plate,
Alayis Seneca leads the squad with a .324 batting average and is one of three players with 10 or more hits. Seneca and
Cori McCrary both have 10 hits apiece while
Jil Poullard leads the team with 13 hits. Poullard also leads the team with six stolen bases while McCrary has a team best 11 RBI.

Jenna Edwards (1-1) has a staff low 1.65 ERA in 17.0 innings and 12 hits allowed.
Saleen Flores leads the team in victories with two.

UTSA enters the weekend having lost its last two games at the UTSA Classic last weekend. The Roadrunners fell 5-2 to Kansas and 2-1 to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
Texas Southern is coming off a split against Abilene Christian on Feb. 27, picking up a 6-5 win in the opening game before falling 8-3 in the nightcap.
