Head Coach Giorgia Pozzan with the Cowgirls over the weekend.
LAKE CHARLES – The McNeese Cowgirl tennis team will have to wait a couple more days before getting back to action following the squad's first win over the season against Incarnate Word last Sunday.
Friday's match at Lamar has been postponed to Tuesday, March 9, due to the threat of rainy weather on Friday.
Now the Cowgirls will take on first place Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in their next match which will be this Sunday at 11 a.m. in Corpus Christi.
"Playing Corpus Christi in Corpus is always a tough challenge," said head coach
Giorgia Pozzan. "The conditions and weather are different which can make it hard to adjust. We have been putting a lot of effort into adjusting from the first few games so I am confident that the team will step up to the plate."
The Cowgirls (1-8, 1-1 SLC) defeated UIW by a 6-1 score on Sunday, and before that, dropped a hard-fought match against Abilene Christian.
"I have seen a lot of improvement in the past few weeks which culminated with a convincing win over UIW on Sunday," said Pozzan. "We have to continue to build on that. We have to take on point at a time always."
Corpus Christi is 11-1 on the season and 1-0 in conference play. The Islanders defeated Northwestern State by a 7-0 score on Sunday.
