LAKE CHARLES - Sunday was Senior Day for the McNeese Cowgirl tennis team as the squad recognized lone senior Sophia San Jose Moreno in a pregame ceremony.

Unfortunately the Cowgirls couldn't give the senior a winning send-off as the Cowgirls dropped a 7-0 decision to Louisiana Tech to close out the 2021 season.

LTU (9-10) took the doubles point after winning 6-0 and 6-3 to take a 1-0 match lead.

In singles action, the Cowgirls (1-17) battled in the No. 2 and 4 singles as both Natalia Ballo and Luna Jokanovic dropped their matches in three sets. Ballo opened the No. 2 slot with a 6-4 win over Anastasiia Salenko but fell short in the second set, falling 7-5. She then dropped the tie-breaker 10-1 to lose the match 2-1.

Jokanovic fell 6-3 in the first set to Alexia Romero but rallied to win the second set 6-3. She fell 6-4 in the decider to drop the match.
