LAKE CHARLES – The McNeese Cowgirl tennis team will return to action on Saturday when it hosts Southeastern Louisiana at 2 at the Nancy Hank Tennis Center in Southland Conference action.
The Cowgirls (1-13, 1-6 SLC) and Lions (5-12, 2-6) are in a battle for the eighth and final spot for the postseason Southland Conference Tournament which will be held April 23-25 in Beaumont.
McNeese is coming off a hard-fought 5-2 loss to New Orleans in its last outing. It's match two days later against Nicholls was postponed due to the weather.
Leading the way for the Cowgirls this season is freshman
Natalia Ballo who has compiled a 5-8 singles record. The Barcelona, Spain native has won her last two matches and three out of her last four.
The Lions had a two-match winning streak snapped in a 6-1 loss to UNO in their last outing.
The Cowgirls defeated SLU 6-1 in their last matchup back in March of 2019. McNeese has won seven straight in the series.
