Update on former Cowboy baseball players in the Pros

LAKE CHARLES – A total of nine former McNeese baseball players are continuing their professional careers this season at all levels, including one, Jace Peterson, who is in his 11th season and eighth in the Major Leagues.
 
The following is a list of those players and what they have done up through Wednesday, June 23.
 
MAJOR LEAGUE PLAYERS
Jace Peterson • Milwaukee Brewers
Peterson is in his 11th season in the pros and his eighth in the Major Leagues. During his career, he's played for five different MLB organizations – San Diego Padres, Atlanta Braves, New York Yankees, Baltimore Orioles, and now the Milwaukee Brewers. He's appeared in 26 games with the Brewers this season, hitting .194 with two home runs, two doubles and eight RBIs to go along with two stolen bases. Was put on the DL in late April and had a rehab stint at Nashville where he played 17 games before returning to the Brewers on June 8 and has played in every game since. Went 2 for 3 with a double and run scored in Wednesday's win over Arizona to keep the Brewers in first place in the NL Central.
 
MINOR LEAGUE PLAYERS
Aidan Anderson • Jersey Shore BlueClaws • High A Philadelphia Phillies
Promoted from the Clearwater Threshers of the GCL Phillies West to the High A BlueClaws in late May. Has appeared in five games and is 0-1 with a 6.48 ERA while with the BlueClaws. Has thrown 8.1 innings with six strike outs. In his two-year minor-league career, he's 4-1 with a 4.12 ERA in 24 appearances.
 
Grant Anderson • Hickory Crawdads • High A Texas Rangers affiliate
Anderson is in his third season in the pros and his second as a member of the Crawdads. He's 0-3 on the year with a 5.24 ERA in 12 appearances. He's thrown 22.1 innings, struck out 30 batters and is holding opponents to a .233 average. In three minor league seasons, he's 9-8 with a 3.43 ERA, 61 appearances, 99.2 innings pitched, 93 Ks and a .220 opponent batting average.
 
Austin Briggs • Midland RockHounds • AA Oakland A's affiliate
Jumped from Short A level in 2019 to the AA Midland RockHounds to start the 2021 season. Has appeared in 15 games on the season and posted a 1-0 record with a 12.57 ERA. Has thrown 19.1 innings and struck out 17 batters. Threw two scoreless innings on Wednesday night against Wichita and allowed only one hit while striking out two.
 
Bryan King • South Bend Cubs • High A Chicago Cubs affiliate
After spending the 2019 season in the Rookie and Short A leagues, King was promoted to the High A Cubs to start the 2021 season. He's 0-1 on the year with a 6.43 ERA while making five appearances. King has thrown seven innings and has struck out nine batters while holding opponents to a .208 batting average. In his career, he's 2-3 with a 2.90 ERA in 19 appearances, 31 innings pitched and 31 Ks while opponents are hitting .189 against him.
 
Collin Kober • Arkansas Travelers • AA Seattle Mariners affiliate
Kober has appeared in 13 games, compiling a 1-0 record with a save and a 2.45 ERA. He's thrown 14.2 innings and struck out 21 batters while hitters are batting just .218 against him. He had a stellar month of May, allowing just one run in 9.1 innings and eight appearances while holding opponents to a .188 batting average. He's allowed runs in only three games and the most allowed is two in an outing.
 
Robbie Podorsky • El Paso Chihuahuas • AAA San Diego Padres affiliate
Podorsky began the season at Double-A San Antonio and played seven games before being called up to the AAA squad on May 13. He hit .370 at San Antonio, hitting safely in six of seven games. In four games with El Paso, he was hitting .429 (6 for 14) with a home run, two RBIs and four runs scored. Was put on the 7-day injured list following that and is waiting to return to active status.
 
Shane Selman • Lansing Lugnuts • High A Oakland A's affiliate
Selman is in his second season in the minors and was promoted to the High A Lansing Lugnuts to start the season. He's appeared in 38 games on the year with six home runs, 20 RBIs, three double and a triple while hitting .236. His 6 homers tops the team while his 20 RBIs ranks No. 2.
 
Cayne Ueckert • Tennessee Smokies • AA Chicago Cubs affiliate
Promoted from the South Bend Cubs (High A) to the Tennessee Smokies this season and has compiled a 1-0 record with a 2.30 ERA. Has appeared in 12 games with the Smokies, throwing 15.2 innings, striking out 18 batters and holding opponents to a .104 average. Is 1-1 with a 1.91 ERA in two minor league seasons that has seen him appear in 29 career games, thrown 42.1 innings with 50 Ks while holding opponents to a .184 batting average.
