LAKE CHARLES- McNeese Women's Soccer (0-0-0) will officially kick off the 2021 season on Thursday with a match against the Tigers of Jackson State (0-0-0) at Cowgirl Field at 6 p.m. CT.
All fans are encouraged to come out and support the Cowgirls. Admission is free.Â
Series History
The Cowgirls hold a 5-1 advantage over the Tigers in all-time wins. The most recent match between the two programs was a 2-0 McNeese victory on September 13, 2019, in Lake Charles. Â
2021 Spring SeasonÂ
The Cowgirls finished the season with a 3-7-1 record in an abbreviated 11-game slate. Six of seven losses were by one goal.Â
ReturneesÂ
The Cowgirls return the majority of last season's core, including preseason All-SLC nominees: senior forward and three-time All-SLC recipient Havana Johnson on the first team. Senior midfielder Anna Watson, senior defender Keely Morrow, and sophomore forward Magalie Depot were selected to the second team.Â
Senior captain and SLC Goalkeeper of the year as a freshman (2017) Emma Roccaforte and captain Alexis Miller provide the team with veteran stability.
New Faces for the CowgirlsÂ
The team also has transfers who are expected to make an impact in LSU transfer Cassandra Romero, Seattle University transfer Kelsey Crosby, and Central Michigan transfer Abbi Morrell. Six freshmen are also new to the team (Karissa Illingworth, Kiley Jones, Jackie Kelly, Kaile Kukaua, Morgan Schooley, and Amanda Whiting.)
