LAKE CHARLES—McNeese volleyball bounced back from its 3-0 (12-25, 22-25, 18-25) loss at the hands of undefeated Mississippi State (4-0) Friday morning with a 3-0 (25-15, 27-25, 25-20) win over Louisiana-Monroe Friday afternoon to end the first day of the Flo Hyman Collegiate cup with a 1-1 record. In the win over UL-Monroe (3-2), McNeese (4-2) was led by
Kendall Glueck's 10 kills wile
Macee Krpec was flawless, ending the match with a .615 hitting percent on eight kills, no errors in 13 attempts.
Lizzy Low recorded double figure digs for the third straight match, ending with a match high 10.
Bria Plante, who was credited with a career high eight blocks in the loss to Mississippi State, picked up five blocks against ULM.
Setters
Ceci Harness and
Baylee Laskoskie dished out 17 and 11 assists, respectively. Laskoskie had three of the eight Cowgirls service aces.
With the opening set tied at 10 apiece, McNeese scored the next three points to extend its lead to 13-10 then went on a 12-5 run including scoring the sets final seven points to take an early 1-0 match lead. McNeese ended the set with a .379 hitting percent on 15 kills and four errors on 29 attempts.
Regan Stiawalt picked up five of her nine digs of the match in the first set.
In the second set, the Cowgirls held a 24-20 lead but behind ULM's Phoebe Stigen's serve, the Warhawks scored four straight points to tie the set at 24 apiece. The match tied again at 25 all before kills by
Macee Krpec and
Aryn Johnson gave the Cowgirls the 27-25 second set win to take a 2-0 overall match lead.
The final set had the Cowgirls take the lead on the opening point and never looking back. Leading 17-15, Laskoskie served for three straight points to put the Cowgirls up 20-15. ULM got as close as 21-19 before an ace and two kills by Glueck gave McNeese a 24-20 lead before a kill by Jaylin Gordan ended the match on a kill.
