VB: Cowgirls Down ULM In Three

LAKE CHALRES—Four days removed from defeating Louisiana-Monroe in straight sets at the Flo Hyman Collegiate Cup last Friday, McNeese volleyball handed the Warhawks another straight set loss (25-13, 25-21, 25-19) Tuesday night at the McNeese Rec Complex. The win improves McNeese to 5-3 on the season while the Warhawks fall to 3-5 on the year.

"Being at home feels a lot different than being on the road especially for a team that is young and growing," said head coach Kristee Porter. "Our energy and making sure we celebrate the small wins enabled us to pull together in the third set when trailing. Our middles became more involved and our offense started to flow a little better."

Macee Krpec and Regan Stiawalt led McNeese with eight kills apiece while Jaylin Gordon ended the match with a .583 hitting percent on seven kills, 12 attempts and no errors. Stiawalt also led with four service ace while Kendall Osgood was credited with three. Gordon and Kendall Glueck ended their night with four blocks apiece and Lizzy Low tied her career high with 14 digs.

Setters Ceci Harness and Baylee Laskoskie continue to split time at this position. Harness ended the match with 18 assists and Laskoskie had 13.

McNeese will to Arlington, Texas this Friday for a doubleheader beginning at 10:30 a.m.

Set 1
McNeese jumped out to a quick 7-1 lead behind a kill from Regan Stiawalt then five more points off her serve after leading 2-1. McNeese never trailed in the set and kills by Jaylin Gordon and Macee Krpec extended the lead to 21-9. A kill by Kendall Glueck put the Cowgirls up 24-13 before an ULM hitting error gave the Cowgirls the set.

Set 2
For the second straight set, McNeese jumped out to the early lead but ULM rallied from a 7-3 deficit and scored seven straight points to take a 10-7 lead. McNeese out together a rally of their own and outscored ULM 7-1 to take a 14-11 lead behind kills from Stiawalt and Krpec. With the set tied at 21 apiece McNeese took advantage of the serving of Kendall Osgood to score the final four points including the final two points on aces from Osgood to pick up the second set win 25p-21.

Set 3
ULM didn't go away easy as they opened up the final set with two straight points then held a 11-9 lead before a kill by Gordon got the Cowgirls to within one point.
