LAKE CHARLES— McNeese women's basketball will look to pick up its first Southland Conference win of the season when the Cowgirls take to the road for their first SLC road swing beginning at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Thursday. Tipoff is set for 5 p.m. and the game will be streamed on ESPN+.
 
McNeese (5-9, 0-1 SLC) is coming off an 82-74 SLC home opening loss to Houston Baptist last Saturday that saw four players score in double figures along with Cristina Gil leading the way with a career high 22 points. Gil enters is currently averaging 7.2 ppg.  Zuzanna Kulinska who scored 16 points against HBU, leads the Cowgirls in scoring with 9.7 ppg. while Kaili Chamberlin is chipping in with 9.6 ppg.
 
Junior Divine Tanks continues to lead the squad in rebounds with 7.1 per game. Tanks is coming off a 10 pt., 9 rebound game against HBU.
 
The Islanders have the best overall record in the league at 9-6 are coming off a 61-54 home win over Incarnate Word. TAMU-CC is undefeated at home (8-0) and have won its last four games with three of its four games coming against HBU and Incarnate Word in non-conference games. The Islanders were picked to finish fifth in the preseason poll ahead of the Cowgirls who were picked to finish sixth.
