Pokes visit No. 7 Baylor on Wednesday

WACO – McNeese will hit the road on Wednesday for the first of three straight games away from home when it battles 7th-ranked Baylor.
 
Tip-off is scheduled for 3 p.m. at Baylor's Ferrell Center. The game will air live on the Big XII Now Network and ESPN+ as well as on the McNeese Radio Network (92.1 FM) and mymagiclc.com.
 
The Cowboys (2-3) are coming off a 1-2 showing over the weekend in its MTE with Lamar, Western Carolina and Lindenwood. The Cowboys defeated Lamar 66-57 on Sunday to end the round-robin tourney with a win.
 
Baylor (4-1) participated in the Continental Tire Main Event in Las Vegas last weekend, falling to then-No. 16 Virginia 86-79 before rebounding to beat No. 8 UCLA 80-75.
 
Wednesday's game will be the fourth meeting in the series and the first since 2014. Baylor leads 3-0 all-time.
 
Following Wednesday's game, the Cowboys will next be in action on Monday at UT Martin then next Wednesday at No. 22 Tennessee.
 
Noteworthy:
• Trae English started in Sunday's game and led the team with 17 points including 5 three-pointers… four of his threes came withing a 1:12 span.
• Christian Shumate pulled down a season-high 14 rebounds in the win over Lamar, his third double-digit rebound game on the season.
• Shumate has two double-doubles on the season and seven in his career… his two on the season ranks No. 1 in the SLC and 15th in the nation.
• Shumate tops the league and is 7th in the nation with 53 total rebounds… 1st in the league with 7.4 defensive rebounds per game and is 2nd in the SLC and 15th nationally with 10.6 total rebounder per game.
• English leads the SLC in assist/turnover ratio at 3.0.
• McNeese is 2nd in the league and 55th in the NCAA with 30.8 bench points per game.
