Pokes visit No. 13 Vols on Wednesday on SECN

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – McNeese will face its second top 25 team in three games on Wednesday when the Cowboys visit 13th-ranked Tennessee.
 
Tip-off is slated for 6:15 at Tennessee's Thomas-Boling Arena. The game will televise live on the SEC Network.
 
McNeese (2-5) is coming off an 86-83 loss to UT Martin on Monday night in a game where the Cowboys held the upper hand in nearly every category, except at the free throw line where McNeese missed 19 freebies and going just 8 of 27.
 
Trae English scored a career-high 29 points in the game after starting his third straight. The sophomore is averaging 17.7 points and 4.3 assists as a starter and has a 2.5 assist/turnover ratio on the season, ranking second in the conference. He's second on the team with a 12.7 ppg average.
 
Christian Shumate added 17 points and 11 rebounds for his third double-double on the year. He'll enter the game averaging 12.9 points and 10.6 rebounds on the season.
 
Tennessee climbed to No. 13 in this week's AP and Coaches Top 25 polls after claiming the Battle 4 Atlantis title with wins over Butler, USC and No. 3 Kansas in the title game.
 
The Vols (5-1) are led in scoring by Josiah-Jordan James' 13.7 points while Santiago Vescovi is added 11.3 per game. James, a preseason All-SEC selection, has missed the last three games due to knee soreness and his return is not known.
 
Following Wednesday's game, the Cowboys will return home next Monday night against Ecclesia before a trip to Iowa to face Northern Iowa on Dec. 9 and No. 23 Iowa State on Dec. 11.
