Pokes visit Demons aiming for season sweep

NATCHITOCHES – McNeese will head to Natchitoches on Saturday looking to get back into the win column while capturing a season sweep when it faces off against Northwestern State in Prather Coliseum.
 
Tip-off is scheduled for 3 p.m. and will follow a 1 o'clock game between the two women's teams. The double-header will broadcast on ESPN+ with former Cowboys head coach Tic Price as part of the broadcast team.
 
McNeese (9-16, 3-5 SLC) is coming off a 91-86 loss at Southeastern to mark the third time this season the Cowboys have lost to the Lions by five points. Northwestern State dropped a 76-69 game at home to HBU to fall to 7-18 overall and 3-5 in league play.
 
The Cowboys defeated the Demons 93-84 last Saturday in the Legacy Center.
 
The Series: Saturday's game will be the 132nd meeting between the Cowboys and Demons with McNeese holding a 66-65 edge in the series. McNeese snapped a three-game losing streak to the Demons last Saturday with a 93-84 victory in the Legacy Center.
 
Cowboy Coach Reunion: Two former McNeese head coaches will be in the building for Saturday's game. Dave Simmons is an assistant coach for the Demons while Tic Price will be part of the ESPN+ broadcast team.
 
Aiming for Tournament Bye: The top four teams in the final standings get a day 1 bye in the Southland Conference Tournament. The top two teams will receive two buys. McNeese and Northwestern State are currently tied at 3-5 and are one game behind HBU in the standings for fourth place.
 
Francois nets career high at SLU: Harwin Francois is starting to find his long range stroke and hit a career-high 5 threes to help him record a career-best 17 points against the Lions on Thursday night. In the last five games, Francois has connected on 12 of 22 for 55 percent from behind the arc.
 
Road trip continues next week: Following Saturday's game, the Cowboys will continue its road trip at Nicholls on Thursday and New Orleans on Saturday. McNeese will return home on Feb. 24 vs. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
