LAKE CHARLES—McNeese women's basketball will begin the second half of Southland Conference play this Thursday at league leading Southeastern, looking to avenge a heartbreaking home 69-68 loss against the Lady Lions just a week ago in Lake Charles. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m. at the University Center with the game being streamed on ESPN+.
McNeese (9-11, 4-3 SLC) enters the game in fourth place in the league standings behind Southeastern, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, and Houston Baptist.
The Cowgirls have won four of its last five games and are coming off a four game home stand in which they produced a 3-1 record with its loss coming against Southeastern. Thursday's game will mark the first of four straight road games in which McNeese will travel to Northwestern State on Saturday and Nicholls and UNO next week before returning home for its final two home games of the season.
For the Cowgirls,
Kaili Chamberlin and
Desirae Hansen are both averaging in double figures with 10.7 ppg. and 10.4 ppg., respectively but the Cowgirls have had several players step up in the past two week to contribute both offensively and defensively.
Divine Tanks, who is coming off her best game of the season, leads the Cowgirls with 7.7 rpg.
Southeastern (11-6, 7-0 SLC) returns home for two straight games following road contest in Lake Charles and at HBU last week.
The Lady Lions are led by Caitlyn Williams who leads the team with 9.2 ppg. and 8.1 rpg.
