Match Notes

McNeese women's tennis (1-8) will continue its six-match road swing at New Orleans (6-3) and Southern Miss (7-1) this weekend. The Cowgirls will open Southland Conference action at 12 p.m. Saturday against the Privateers before concluding the weekend with an 11 a.m. match at Southern Miss on Sunday.

The match also marks the SLC opener for the Privateers. Southern Miss' lone loss of the season came in a 4-1 loss at Mississippi State on Feb. 26. The Eagles wins this season include wins over Southland Conference members Southeastern, NW State, and most recently a 7-0 win over Nicholls last Thursday.  

The Cowgirls are coming off a 7-0 road loss at Stephen F. Austin last Saturday.

Natalia Ballo leads the Cowgirls with three victories on the season, all coming at the No. 3 singles spot while Yukina Abe and Ariane Monlleo Sanchis both have two wins on the year.

Cowgirls Roster Is Filled With Youth: McNeese's roster consists of only two upperclassmen in juniors Matilde Mulatero and Carlotto Romito. The rest of the Cowgirls roster consists of four sophomores (Yukina Abe, Natalie Ballo, Anna Domingo-Bernabeu, and Luna Jokanovic.

Southland Conference Openers: The Southland Conference opener is set for this Saturday, March 12 at New Orleans while the SLC home opener is set for April 1 against Southeastern.
