HATTIESBURG, Miss.—McNeese women's tennis team completed its weekend road trip with a 7-0 loss at Southern Miss here Sunday.
Southern Miss (8-1) opened the match by winning two of three doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead. The Eagles continued its dominance through the singles matches to win all six on its way to the victory. With the win the Golden Eagles remained undefeated at home this season and extended its home win streak to 28 consecutive wins.
McNeese (1-10) was close to picking up a win at the No. 6 singles where
Ariane Monlleo Sanchis loss in three sets to Maddison Ricardo. Sanchis dropped the first set 7-5 before evening the match at one set apiece with a 6-2 second set win to send the match to a third set. Ricardo won the third set 10-3 to seal the win.
Next Up:
The Cowgirls will return to the court this Saturday for its only match this week. McNeese will travel to Incarnate Word for a Southland Conference match beginning at 10 a.m.
