LAKE CHARLES— McNeese women's basketball will conclude its regular season this Saturday when the Cowgirls travel to Houston to face first place Houston Baptist at 2 p.m.

Both teams enter the game as the two hottest teams in the league with the Cowgirls riding a four-game winning streak and the Huskies having won their last six and claimed at least a share of the regular season title last week.

McNeese (13-13, 8-5) clinched the No. 4 seed in next week's Southland Conference Tournament following its 73-65 home finale win over Incarnate Word last Saturday. The Cowgirls' 13 wins is the most wins since the 2017-18 season and win or lose, McNeese is assured a conference winning season for the first time since the 2015-16 season. Â

The Cowgirls will enter the game as the league's top scoring team, averaging 70.7 ppg., rebounds (39.8), defensive rebounds (27.5), and 3-pt. field goals made (95) in league games.

Kaili Chamberlin continues to lead the team in scoring (11.2 ppg.) and is averaging 12.8 ppg. in league games.
Desirae Hansen is averaging 11.0 ppg. while

HBU (15-9, 11-2) clinched a share of the league title for the first time in program history with its 56-47 road win at UNO on Wednesday. The Huskies have the league's top defense, holding its opponents to 52.1 ppg. and are also the league's best three-point shooting team with a 34.4 shooting percent.

HSU is led in scoring by Timia Jefferson's 12.6 ppg. and Marilyn Nzoiwu leads with 7.4 rpg. while N'Denasija Collins is averaging 6.5 per game.

Following Saturday's season finale at HBU, McNeese will travel to Katy, Texas next Friday for its opening game of the Southland Conference Tournament. The Cowgirls, who earned a first-round bye, will enter the tournament as the fourth seed will play at 11 a.m. Â
