VB: Cowgirls Take Part In SFA Hampton Inn Invitational

LAKE CHARLES—McNeese volleyball will travel to Nacogdoches, Texas this weekend to take part in the Stephen F. Austin Hampton Inn Invitational, the second of four regular season tournaments for the Cowgirls.
 
McNeese (0-3) will open tournament play against host Stephen F. Austin at 11 a.m. Friday and will end the day with a 5 p.m. match against Tulsa.
 
Saturday's schedule has McNeese facing South Alabama at 11 a.m.
 
Senior Kendall Glueck heads into this weekend with a team high 33 kills and is second on the team with 10 blocks. Sanni Rantanen has a team high 11 kills. Rantanen also leads the squad with four service aces.
 
Setter Mia Perales will look to add to her team high 46 assists while Dejah Dade has 30 and libero Lizzy Low leads the team with 50 digs.
 
Following this weekend's tournament, McNeese will travel to Houston next Tuesday for a 6 p.m. match at Rice.
 
 
McNEESE NOTES
•- It's the second of four regular season tournaments for the Cowgirls
•- McNeese will look for its first win of the season after posting a 0-3 record at the Alabama Crimson Tide Invitational last weekend where they dropped matches to Alabama, Southern Miss and UTSA
•- Kendall Glueck leads the team with 33 kills while Mia Perales has a team high 46 assists and Lizzy Low is coming off a weekend with 50 digs. Sanni Rantanen leads the Cowgirls with 11 blocks and four service aces.
• McNeese returns nine letterwinners from a team that posted an 18-11 overall record and finished third in the SLC race with a 9-3 record a year ago.
•- McNeese has nine newcomers on the 2022 team (7 transfers, 2 freshmen)
•- McNeese is picked to finish fourth in the Southland Conference preseason poll
•- Seniors Kendall Glueck and Macee Krpec were named to the SLC preseason team
 
ABOUT STEPHEN F. AUSTIN (SFA leads series 22-3)
•- Former Southland Conference member who is in their second season in the WAC
•- Enter the weekend undefeated at 4-0
•- Opened the season with a 3-0 record at the SMU Tournament
•- Coming off a 3-1 win over North Texas on Tuesday
• - Ielan Bradley leads the Ladyjacks with 57 kills, Maddy Bourque has a team high 106 assists, Haley Hoang leads with 86 digs, and Izabella Ortiz has 19 blocks
•- Lost to Arkansas in the second round of the NIVC last season
 
ABOUT TULSA (Tulsa leads series 1-0)
•- Member of the American Conference
•- Enter the tournament with a 1-2 record at the Nebraska Husker Invitational last weekend. Dropped matches to Pepperdine, #1 Nebraska with its win coming in a five-set match against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi
•- Kaley Cassidy leads the Hurricane with 51 kills and nine blocks while Aysu Dalogullari has a team high 46 digs and Avery Kalsu leads with 52 assists.
 
ABOUT SOUTH ALABAMA (S. Alabama leads series 3-2)
•- Member of Sun Belt
•- Enter the weekend with a 2-1 record following the South Florida Invitational
•- Will face Tulsa and SFA on Friday before facing McNeese on Saturday
•- Maddie Soboleski leads the Jaguars with 44 kills and five service aces, Kailey Keeble has a team high 107 assists and 45 digs, and Morgan Stalcup has 10 blocks.
