VB: The Wait Is Over...Cowgirls Play First Home Match At Legacy Center Since 2019

| By:
LAKE CHARLES—It's been two years since McNeese volleyball played a home match on its home court, now known as the Legacy Center. That will all change Tuesday night when the Cowgirls host Texas Southern in its home opener. First serve is set for 6:30 p.m. The first 50 McNeese students will receive a free t-shirt. Admission is free for all home matches.

The last home match the Cowgirls played on its home court, then known as the Health and Human Performance Complex was on Nov. 9, 2019, that ended with a 3-1 Southland Conference win over Nicholls. Since that win, McNeese played its 2020 season in the spring of 2021 at SP Arnett Middle School and its 2021 fall season was played at the McNeese Rec Complex due to damages to the H&HP from Hurricanes Laura and Delta along with the COVID pandemic.

McNeese (2-8) will look to build on its 3-1 win over South Florida at the UTSA Invitational last weekend.

Senior Kendall Glueck continues to lead McNeese in kills with 112 and is second on the team with 37 blocks. Mia Perales has dished out a team high 183 assists and has 12 service aces on the year while Bailey Tillman leads with 161 digs and Sanni Rantanen leads with 50 blocks.

Texas Southern (0-7) has lost five of its seven matches to SLC schools including Incarnate Word, New Orleans, Lamar, and twice to Houston Baptist.

The Tigers are coming off a 3-0 loss against Lamar at the New Orleans Invitational last weekend.

 McNEESE NOTES
• 2022 home opener for the Cowgirls
• It's been two years since McNeese played on its home court due to damages to its facility (formerly the H&HP Complex) caused by two hurricanes.
• The last McNeese home match in what was then the H&HP Complex was a 3-1 Southland Conference win over Nicholls on Nov. 9, 2019.
• Seniors Kendall Glueck and Macee Krpec are the only two players on the 2022 team to play a home match in the Legacy Center before it was damaged.
• It will be first year head coach Sasha Karelov's first match as a head coach in the Legacy Center, but it won't be her first match in the Legacy Center. She was an assistant coach at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi when the Islanders played McNeese in the Legacy Center during the 2019 season.
• McNeese is coming off a 3-1 win over South Florida last Saturday on the final day of the UTSA Invitational
