LAKE CHARLES – McNeese women's basketball returns to Joe Dumars Court at Legacy Center Saturday looking to get back into the win column when the Cowgirls host Houston Christian, the reigning Southland Conference Regular Season Champions. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m.
McNeese (4-11, 1-3 SLC) is coming off a 62-61 road loss at Northwestern State on Thursday in a back and forth game.
Paris Mullins is coming off the bench to lead the Cowgirls in scoring with 10.2 ppg. while
Divine Tanks continues to lead the team with 5.6 rpg.
In league games,
Desirae Hansen is averaging 11.5 ppg. and
Stephanie Guihon is averaging 10.3 ppg. while Tanks is pulling down 5.3 rpg.,
Le'Shenae Stubblefield is averaging 4.3, and
Alicja Falkowska is averaging 4.0 per contest.
HCU (7-8, 2-2 SLC) is coming off a 65-62 home loss to league leading A&M-Commerce Thursday night. The Huskies are led in scoring (13.1 ppg.) and rebounds (7.0 rpg.) by N'Denasija Collins. Julija Vujakovic is also averaging in double figures with 11.3 ppg. and Marilyn Nzoiwu is pulling down 6.6 boards per game.
NOTES
- It's the first game of the season against HCU, the defending Southland Conference regular season champs.
- McNeese leads the series 11-9 but HCU has won the last four meetings including both wins last season. HCU won 82-74 in Lake Charles (Jan. 15, 2022) and 68-61 (March 5).
- Cowgirls will look to snap a two game losing streak following its 62-61 road loss at Northwestern State Thursday night.
- Against NW State on Thursday, McNeese had three players score in double figures for the third straight game.
