WBB: Cowgirls Look To Extend Winning Streak Thursday at UIW

LAKE CHARLES – McNeese women's basketball will carry its three-game winning streak, its longest of the season into San Antonio, Texas Thursday to face Incarnate Word (7-10, 2-5 SLC) at 5:30 p.m. It will be the first of two regular season meetings against the Cardinals.
 
McNeese (7-11, 4-3) enters the game in fourth place in the league standings following its two consecutive wins over Nicholls last week.  The Cowgirls also enter the game leading the SLC with a 68.6 scoring average, a 45.3 field goal percent, 38.4 rpg., and 15.6 assists and are second with 9.43 steals per contest in league games.
 
Paris Mullins is coming off the bench to lead McNeese in scoring (10.1 ppg.) and Divine Tanks continues to lead the team with 5.7 rpg.
 
The Cardinals return home losing its last two games at HCU (71-52) and at Lamar (72-52) at Lamar last Saturday.
 
Nina DeLeon leads UIW in scoring (11.4 ppg.) and Destiny Terrell leads the team with 5.1 rpg.
 
 
NOTES
- It's the first game of the season against UIW.  Both teams will play again in Lake Charles on Feb. 16.
 
- The series is tied at 6 games apiece with the Cardinals defeating McNeese 90-63 in the first round of the Southland Conference Tournament in Katy last year in the last meeting between the two teams. 
 
- McNeese is 3-1 against UIW in games played in San Antonio. 
 
- McNeese is currently riding its longest winning streak of the season of three games.
 
- As a team, McNeese leads the league in scoring in conference games, averaging 68.6 ppg. The Cowgirls also lead the league with a 45.3 field goal percent, rebounds (38.4), assists (15.6), and is second in steals with 9.43 spg.
 
- McNeese is coming off back-to-back wins over Nicholls last week with its latest win, a 70-62 home win over the Colonels last Saturday.
 
- The Cowgirls have had at least three players score in double figures in five of the last six games.
 
- Desirae Hansen and Kaili Chamberlin led the Cowgirls in scoring in Saturday's win over Nicholls. Hansen ended the game with 14 points including three 3-pointers.  Chamberlin ended the game with 11 points.
 
- Divine Tanks pulled down 11 rebounds Saturday against Nicholls. It was the second game this season Tanks recorded double figure rebounds.
 
- Mullins is coming off the bench to lead McNeese in scoring (10.1 ppg.).
 
- Tanks continues to lead the team with 5.7 rpg. overall and is also averaging 5.7 rpg. in conference games.
 
- Hansen has scored in double figures in five of the last six games and is averaging 11.6 ppg. in conference games.
