CORPUS CHRISTI – McNeese will look to stop the bleeding on Saturday when the Cowboys ride a six-game losing streak into the home of the Southland Conference preseason No. 1 pick Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islanders.
 
Not only will the Cowboys (5-16, 2-6 SLC) look at halting their season losing streak, they'll also look to put an end to a 13-game skid against the Islanders (12-9, 5-3). The Cowboys last win over AMCC occurred 11 years ago (Jan. 10, 2012) with a 75-51 win in Lake Charles. McNeese swept the season series that season, beating the Islanders 71-69 on Jan. 7, 2012 for the last victory in Corpus Christi.
 
Tip-off for Saturday's game will be at 3:30. ESPN Plus will broadcast the game live while the McNeese Radio Network will carry it on the airwaves at Magic 92.1 FM and mymagiclc.com.
 
THE SERIES:
• 23rd meeting with the Islanders holding a 16-6 all-time lead.
• The Cowboys have lost 13 straight in the series with the last win coming on Jan. 10, 2012 by way of a 75-71 win in Lake Charles
• The Islanders are 10-1 all-time at home against the Cowboys.
• McNeese has lost seven straight at Corpus Christi with the last win being on Jan. 7, 2012 (71-69).
• Last season the Cowboys lost 60-56 at Corpus (Jan. 20) and 65-53 in Lake Charles (Feb. 24).
 
ABOUT McNEESE:
• McNeese is 2-10 on the road this season and 1-3 in road conference games.

• The Cowboys have lost their last four games, all conference, when leading at the half.

• Johnathan Massie has at least one steal in 13 straight games.
• Trae English was held to zero assists against UIW on Thursday, snapping a streak of 28 straight games with at least one dime.
• Scott has scored 1,243 points in his career which includes his playing days at Florida Gulf Coast University... he's scored 631 of those points as a Cowboy.
• Scott has knocked down 123 three-point goals in his McNeese career, needing 13 more to move into 10th on the McNeese career record list.
 
ABOUT AMCC:
• The Islanders, last year's SLC Tournament champion, was the preseason favorite to win the regular season title.
• AMCC snapped a two-game losing streak by beating Nicholls 96-86 on Thursday night.
• 9-1 at home this season with the only loss coming at the hands of Southeastern, 85-82 in overtime.
• Return all five starters from last year's team including senior forward Isaac Mushila who leads the league in rebounding (9.8) and is 11^th in scoring (14.6).
 
UPDATE ON THE SLC:
• Southeastern is alone in first place in the league standings at 6-2 but four teams closely follow at 5-3 – Northwestern State, A&M-Corpus Christi, Nicholls, A&M-Commerce.
• HCU sits alone in sixth place at 4-4 while UIW and New Orleans are tied for the 7/8 spot at 3-5.
• McNeese and Lamar are 9/10 with 2-6 league records.
• Saturday's schedule, in addition to McNeese/AMCC, Northwestern State hosts Lamar, SLU is at New Orleans, Nicholls at UIW and HCU is at A&M-Commerce.
