WSOC: Cowgirls Drop Regular Season Finale...Earn No. 3 Seed

LAKE CHARLES—McNeese women's soccer missed several scoring opportunities in the first half while Texas A&M-Commerce capitalized on an opportunity, coming away with a 1-0 Southland Conference win in the regular season finale Friday night.
 
Hanna Bell's goal in the 38th minute of play was all Texas A&M-Commerce (9-6-3, 7-1-2 SLC) needed to pick up the win and clinched the No. 2 seed in next week's Southland Conference Tournament that will be held in Corpus Christi, Texas.
 
Despite the loss, McNeese (8-7-3, 5-3-2) earned the No. 3 seed and will face No. 6 seed Southeastern at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 1 in the opening round of the tournament.
 
Both teams attempted a total of 21 shots on the night with the Lions attempting 11 but were held to just three in the second half. 
 
McNeese attempted five shots in each of the two halves and was led by Kaile Kukaua's three shots.  The duo of Briana O'Dell and Jackie Kelly split time at goalkeeping.  O'Dell was credited with two saves.
 
Following the game, seniors Magalie Depot, Martine Ellefsen, Karissa Illingworth, Kiana Kukaua AnnMarie Snead, Briana O'Dell, AnnMarie Sneed, and Rachel Young were honored in a post-game ceremony.  
 
During the seniors' tenure, they combined for 31 goals, eight of those being game-winning goals. The class has picked up 33 assists in their careers.
