McKenzie Moore led all players with 15 kills and six blocks, but it wasn't enough as McNeese volleyball fell 3-0 (25-16, 28-26, 25-20) to Southeastern in a Southland Conference match. The loss drops the Cowgirls to 7-13 overall and 5-2 in the SLC. Southeastern improves to 16-4 overall and remains atop the league standings with a 7-1 record.
Carissa Chainey joined Moore in double figures with 12 kills.
Bailey Tillman led all players with 23 digs and
Megan Grose led all players with 31 assists.
Southeastern was led by Rachel Hartman's 13 kills.
McNeese will return home next Thursday to host Northwestern State in the first of three straight home matches.
Set 1
• Southeastern took the early then went on a 7-0 run to lead 12-4
• McNeese put together a mini run to pull to within 13-9 but couldn't grab the momentum as the Lions went on to win the opening set.
Set 2
• Southeastern once again grabbed the early lead at 5-3
• McNeese rallied to tie the score at six apiece
• With the set tied at eight, Southeastern went on a 4-0 run to lead 12-8
• McNeese went on a run of its own to lead 15-14 and then led 21-18
• Southeastern scored the next three points to tie the set 21 apiece
• With the Cowgirls leading 24-23 at set point, Southeastern got a kill by Hartman and a service ace to take a 25-24 lead
• Two straight points by McNeese put the Cowgirls back up 26-25
• Southeastern tied the set on a McNeese error and then two kills by Kailin Newsome gave Southeastern the win
Set 3
• For the third straight set, Southeastern jumped out to the early lead, taking a 6-3 lead
• McNeese got within one point (6-5)
• With Southeastern leading 20-14, three straight kills by
Carissa Chainey pulled the Cowgirls to within three points (20-17)
• Southeastern outscored McNeese 5-3 the rest of the way to win the set and the match
