LAKE CHARLES – McNeese will hit the hardwood for games on consecutive days when the Cowboys host Champion Christian on Monday at 7 p.m. followed by a visit by LeTourneau at 7 on Tuesday in the Legacy Center.
Both games will broadcast live on ESPN+.
McNeese (2-0) is coming off a 96-55 win over the College of Biblical Studies in the team's home opener last Friday. Prior to that, the Cowboys defeated VCU by a 76-65 margin on the road in the season opener last Monday to mark the first win over a Division I school to start the season since 1985.
Should the Cowboys pick up wins on both Monday and Tuesday, they'll improve to 4-0 for the first time since 1972.
Shahada Wells, who scored 23 points in the win over VCU, leads four Cowboys in double-figure scoring with 17.5 points per game to go along with a team-high 4.0 assist average.
Antavion Collum is sinking 14 ppg and is coming off a 26-point outing against CBS.
Christian Shumate is averaging a double-double behing 12.5 points and 10 rebounds per game while
DJ Richards Jr. is knocking in 11.5 points a game.
The Cowboys lead the Southland Conference in several categories including turnover margin (12.0) where they rank sixth in the nation. McNeese is eighth in the country with 14 steals per game and tops the league in FG shooting (.567), assist/turnover ratio (2.1), scoring defense (60.0 ppg), three-point FG shooting (.438) and fewest turnovers per game (8.0).
Champion Christian is a member of the National Christian College Athletic Association and will carry a 2-1 record into Monday's game.
LeTourneau is a member of the American Southwest Conference which is in the NCAA Division III ranks. The YellowJackets are 2-0 on the season.
Following the home stand, the Cowboys will head back to the east coast where they will visit Western Carolina for a 3 p.m. game on Saturday.
