2024 Baseball Schedule
LAKE CHARLES – Entering his 11
th season at the helm of McNeese baseball, head coach
Justin Hill announced the 2024 schedule Wednesday morning, opening the campaign on February 16.
"I'm excited and I know our team is excited about this year's schedule," said Hill. "The non-conference slate is extremely challenging, and we will have to be ready to compete at a high level on opening weekend."
McNeese opens the 2024 campaign on the road against Texas A&M (Feb. 16-18) who recently went 2-2 in the NCAA Stanford Regional.
The following Tuesday will begin a nine-game home stretch against Louisiana-Lafayette, followed by New Mexico State for a four-game weekend (Feb. 23-26), Louisiana Tech (Feb. 28), and Prairie View A&M (Mar. 1-3).
Following its home stand, the program will have a six-game road stand, highlighted by a three-game series against Arkansas from March 8-10 who also made an NCAA Regional appearance in 2023. During that span, the Cowboys take on Louisiana Christian (Mar. 6), Southern (Mar. 12), and the Ragin' Cajuns (Mar. 20) each for a lone midweek game.
In the team's final non-conference weekend slate, the blue and gold play host to Northwestern on March 22-24 followed by a midweek matchup against Mississippi Valley State at home on March 26.
Hill went on to say, "The conference is always extremely competitive and the margin for error comes down to just a few plays."
McNeese is scheduled to host series against Northwestern State (Mar. 28-30), UIW (Apr. 12-14), Southeastern (Apr. 26-28), and HCU (May 10-12).
On the road, the Cowboys take on Lamar (Apr. 5-7), New Orleans (Apr. 19-21), Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (May 3-5), and the reigning conference champions, Nicholls, to close out the regular season May 16-18.
Further midweek games include opponents such as Alcorn State (Apr. 2-3), Sam Houston State (Apr. 16), Southern (May 7), and Texas State at home on May 14 on the home finale.
McNeese will take on the likes against the defending national champions, LSU, on April 9 and Houston on May 1.
The Southland Conference Baseball Championships will take place in Hammond, Louisiana for the 2024 season from May 22-25.
