LAKE CHARLES – After a spectacular season on and off the pitch, junior Jackie Kelly was named to the 2023 Academic All-District Team, announced by the College Sports Communicators (CSC).

"Jackie is not only an incredibly gifted goalkeeper, but she's also a fantastic student," said head coach Drew Fitzgerald. "She plays with passion and commitment and studies equally hard. We could not be more proud of her earning this award and are excited that all her hard work is being recognized."

On the pitch for the 2023 campaign, Kelly appeared in 19 matches with 17 starts in the net to play a grand total of 1,460 minutes. She assisted the team in only allowing 14 goals on the season for a goals against average of .863, the second lowest in the Southland.

Kelly tallied up 96 saves during the season to make her way into the McNeese record books with the third-most saves in a season. Defensively, Kelly amassed five shutouts, the fourth-most in a season for the Cowgirls while further assisting in two combined shutouts.

Within the classroom, Kelly is earning her major in Criminal Justice and has earned a GPA of 3.64 thus far in her career. To be named to the CSC Academic All-District, each nominee must have a GPA above 3.50.

Twice this season, she donned SLC Goalkeeper of the Week honors to add to her numerous accomplishments this season.

Kelly was a part of a McNeese squad that went all the way to the Southland Conference Championships for the first time since 2008, earning All-Tournament honors in the process.
