LAKE CHARLES- McNeese women's basketball will tip-off its season Monday, Nov. 6 against Dillard in its annual Education Day game beginning at 11 a.m. at the Legacy Center.Â
Â
Over 3,300 elementary kids from Calcasieu Parish will be in attendance to help cheer the Cowgirls to victory.
Â
Monday's game is the first of six straight home games for the Cowgirls who will remain home for all but one game in November. Included in the six straight home games is the McNeese MTE (Multi Team Event) set for Nov. 16-18 with Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Mississippi Valley State, and UL-Monroe taking part in the event.Â

A total of 19 regular season home games are on tap for the Cowgirls this season along with the Southland Conference Tournament (March 11-14) hosted by McNeese.

Third year head coach
Lynn Kennedy and his staff will look to build on the 2022-23 season that saw the Cowgirls post a 12-19 overall record and an 8-10 conference record. The Cowgirls advanced to the 2023 Southland Conference semifinals, falling to Lamar in overtime.

McNeese returns six letterwinners from a year ago and one starter, that being junior guard
Cristina Gil. Also returning are juniors
Clara Rosini,
Mireia Yespes and
Gabrielle Wener along with sophomores
Marta Hermoso and
Grace Wener.

Eight newcomers will make their McNeese debut which includes four freshmen (
Azjah Reeves,
Crystal Hayes,
Alva Mofalk, and
Boston Berry) who will be making their collegiate debut. The transfers include
Julia Puente, Ana Cabañas,
Helena Galunic, and
Emilia Tenbrock. Â
