WBB: Divine Tanks Records 12th Career Double Double In Loss To TAMU-CC

LAKE CHARLES—McNeese women's basketball didn't help its cause here Saturday by committing 32 turnovers in a Southland Conference 75-62 loss to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.

The loss for McNeese is the fourth straight and sixth out of the last seven games, dropping the Cowgirls to 9-17 on the season and 6-9 in league play.

The bright spot for the Cowgirls was the 12th career double double by Divine Tanks who led all players with a game high 18 points and a game high 13 rebounds, tying her season high in both categories.

Texas A&M-Corpus Christi improved to 16-10 overall and 11-4 in the SLC with the win and remains in second place behind first place Southeastern who defeated Texas A&M-Commerce 66-55 today.

TAMU-CC held a 34-25 halftime lead, but the Cowgirls opened the second half by outscoring the Islanders 9-4 to pull to within four points (38-34) at the 6:41 mark of the third quarter. That would be the closest the Cowgirls would get as TAMU-CC went on a 13-4 run to up its lead to 13 points early in the final quarter and never looked back.

Makinna Serrata led a trio of Islanders who scored in double figures with 16 points.  Verano Violeta scored 14 points and Alecia Westbrook added 10 points.
