LAKE CHARLES—Southeastern outscored McNeese 18-10 in overtime here Thursday night to pick up a 72-64 Southland Conference women's basketball victory.
McNeese (9-14, 6-6 SLC) led 54-51 with 1:15 left in regulation following a
Cristina Gil three-pointer but the Cowgirls allowed Southeastern two chances late in the game and the Lions capitalized on those chances.
Following a missed layup by
Kaili Chamberlin that would of put the Cowgirls up by five, Southeastern's Hailey Giaratano missed a three-pointer that would of tied the game but Dijone' Flowers pulled down the offensive rebound and found Giaratano behind the three-point line at the top of the key and she didn't miss that time, tying the game up at 54. McNeese had one last chance to win the game but
Paris Mullins shot was of the mark as time expired, sending the game into overtime.
Despite the loss,
Desirae Hansen scored her 1500
th career point, ending the game with 13 points and
Divine Tanks moved into fourth place in McNeese career rebounds by ending the game with 10 to give her 744 career rebounds. Tanks also ended the game with 10 points to give her 11 career double doubles.
Le'Shenae Stubblefield also joined Hansen and Tanks in double figures with 10 points and tied her career high with six steals.
Southeastern (14-8, 9-3 SLC) ended up outrebounding the Cowgirls 51-36 and the Lady Lions scored 38 points in the paint while the Cowgirls scored 32 in the paint.
Southeastern also had three players score in double figures. Giaratano led all players with 23 points, Cierra Cunningham scored 15 and Chrissy Brown scored 12. Natalie Kelly led all players with 16 rebounds with 12 coming on defense.
McNeese overcame a 14 point deficit in the second quarter to lead by three points in the third quarter.
QUARTER-BY-QUARTER

st- Southeastern opened the game by scoring the first eight points. Cowgirls missed their first six shots of the game before Mullins scored midway through the quarter. Southeastern held a 16-11 first quarter lead.

nd- Southeastern outscored McNeese 13-9 in the second quarter and held a 29-20 halftime lead. Southeastern held a 32-19 rebound advantage at the half and scored 22 of their 29 points in the paint.

rd- McNeese pulled to within four points following two free throws by
Le'Shenae Stubblefield with six minutes left in the quarter.
Cowgirls got within two points (34-32) on a Stubblefield layup midway through the quarter.
Gil with a three-point play gave McNeese its first lead of the game (37-36) with 3:20 left in the quarter. A layup by Stubblefield extended the lead to 39-36.
Southeastern got a steal and scored a layup as time expired to take a 42-41 lead. McNeese outscored Southeastern 21-13 in the quarter.

th- Hansen's jumper with 4:40 to play pulled McNeese to within one point (48-47). With the score tied at 51,
Cristina Gil's three-pointer gave the Cowgirls a 54-51 lead with less than a minute to play.
Southeastern tied the game at 54 with a three-pointer with six seconds left. The Cowgirls had a chance to win the game but a jumper by Mullins was off the mark, sending the game into overtime.
OT-Hansen opened the OT period with a three-pointer to put her over the 1,5000 career point mark. Southeastern then outscored McNeese 15-7 the rest of the way.
