Cowboys continue home stand on Tuesday vs. Miss. Valley

LAKE CHARLES - McNeese baseball will continue its current 12-game home stand on Tuesday when it hosts Mississippi Valley State at 6 p.m. at Joe Miller Ballpark.

The Cowboys (11-5) are coming off a three-game weekend sweep over Prairie View in a series that saw McNeese blank the Panthers in the first two games while tossing a combined shutout on Saturday. Mississippi Valley is 6-9 on the year and lost three straight at New Orleans over the weekend by a combined score of 58-9, including a 35-3 shelling on Saturday.

McNeese is led in hitting by shortstop Josh Leslie's .313 average and his team-high 19 RBIs. He's also second on the team with four home runs. Second baseman Brad Burckel is hitting .309 while left fielder Cooper Hext is hitting .308 and tops the team with five homers.

The Cowboys hold a 4-0 lead over MVSU in the all-time series as they swept the Diamond Devils in a four-game series back in 2020.

Next up, McNeese will host Yale in a three-game series beginning Friday at 6.
