LAKE CHARLES—McNeese women's tennis suffered its first home loss of the season in a 6-1 Southland Conference match to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi here Wednesday to fall to 14-4 overall and 4-2 in league play. 
 
With the win, the Islanders clinch the regular season title and improved to 19-2 overall and 6-0 in the SLC. 
 
McNeese will conclude its regular season with an 11 a.m. match at the Nancy Hank Tennis Center this Saturday, April 15 against Incarnate Word.
 
The Islanders opened the match by winning the doubles point for a 1-0 lead then went on to win five of the six singles matches. 
 
Courts 1 and 2 both went to third set tiebreakers.  The Cowgirls had the early lead in both matches but couldn't hold on for the wins as McNeese's Emma-Lou Pommiers fell to Emma Aucagne 12-10 in the tiebreak on Court 1.  McNeese's Heta Nuutinen dropped the tiebreaker, 10-8 on Court 2.
 
Ariane Monlleo Sanchis extended her winning streak to three matches by picking up the only Cowgirl point, defeating Kateryna Rublevska in straight sets 6-4, 6-4 to improve to 12-5 overall and 5-1 in the SLC.
