LAKE CHARLES- McNeese softball host two mid-week games this week beginning with #12 LSU on Tuesday, April 18 at 6 p.m.  The Cowgirls will also host UT-Arlington at 6 p.m. on Wednesday.
 
McNeese (32-12) will look to extend its six-game winning streak after a Southland Conference series sweep over Nicholls last weekend.  It will be the second meeting against LSU (34-10) this season with the Tigers winning 6-2 in Baton Rouge on March 21.  The Cowgirls enter the mid-week games having won 13 of their last 15 games and 18 of the last 21 games.
 
Nine Cowgirls have at least a .300 average with Chloe Gomez leading the way with a .354 average.  Mariana Torres (.336), Reese Reyna (.331), Alayis Seneca (.328), Corrine Poncho (.317), Erin Ardoin (.316), Crislyne Moreno (.314), Rylie Bouvier (.308), and Brooke Otto (.300) are all batting .300 or above.
 
In the circle, Whitney Tate leads the team in wins (13-3), a 1.49 ERA, seven shutouts, and 113.0 innings pitched.  Ashley Vallejo is 12-7 on the year with a 2.40 EAR and leads the staff with 84 strikeouts in 90.1 innings.
 
The Tigers enter the game having lost three of their last four games including an SEC series loss at Auburn last weekend.
 
Danieca Coffey leads LSU with a .418 batting average, 59 hits while Georgia Clark leads the team with 10 home runs and Ciara Briggs has a team high 49 hits.
 
The Tigers have six pitchers on their staff and Sydney Berzon leads the team in victories (12-4) with a 1.67 ERA while Ali Kilponen is 10-5 overall with a 2.26 ERA.  Raelin Chaffin is 5-1 with a 2.52 ERA.
 
ABOUT UT-ARLINGTON
•- it will be the second meeting of the season against UTA. McNeese run-ruled the Mavericks 8-0 in five innings at the Tracy Beard College Classic on Feb. 18
•- UTA comes to Lake Charles with a 17-22 overall record and are 13-18 since playing McNeese in February
•- They are coming off a 2-1 WAC home series loss against Abilene Christian. As of now, they are tied for 7th in the WAC standings with a 7-8 record
•- Have three player batting over .300: Marley Neises (.375), Paris Brienesse (.310), Morgan Westbrook (.304)
•- Jessica Adams leads the pitching staff with 10 wins (10-12) and a 2.67 ERA, 128.2 innings pitched, and 51 strikeouts.
