LAKE CHARLES-- McNeese softball extended its winning streak to eight games Wednesday night with a 6-2 win over Texas-Arlington. The win over the Mavericks is the second this season.
McNeese improved to 34-12 overall while the Mavericks fell to 17-23 with the loss.
The Cowgirls held a 6-0 lead after the fourth inning by scoring three runs in the second, two in the third, and on in the fourth. UTA avoided the shutout by scoring two runs in the sixth.
McNeese pounded out 12 hits, it's the 17
th game this season the Cowgirls pickup at least 10 hits in a game.

Emily Phillips and
Alayis Seneca all picked up two hits apiece. Both of Phillips' hits were doubles while Moreno also had a double.
Shaelyn Sanders picked up the win to remain undefeated on the season at 5-0. Sanders allowed two hits, struck out four with one walk in 5.0 innings. Freshman reliever
Ryann Schexnayder tossed 2.0 innings and allowed two runs on one hit along with on strikeout.
Marley Neises picked up two of the three UTA hits while Meagan Smith had the other hit which was a double and the only extra base hit allowed in the game.
McNeese will be off this weekend and will return to the diamond next week when the Cowgirls will travel to Hammond for a Southland Conference series next Tuesday and Wednesday. The Cowgirls will return home next weekend (April 28-29) to host Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in its final regular season conference series.
