Grant Rogers picked up his 11
th win of the season after throwing a pre-determined three innings against Miami (OH) University, matching the single season school record as the Cowboys defeated the Redhawks 13-5 on Thursday night.
The win improved the Cowboys record to 33-20 overall while Miami fell to 20-35. The series will conclude with a noon start on Friday, having moved up one hour from the original time of 1.
Rogers (11-1) tossed three scoreless innings, allowing one hit and striking out three while throwing 36 pitches. He tied Chris Howay who set the record of 11 victories during the 2000 season.
Rogers was great on the mound while the offense was just as great at the plate.
The Cowboys finished the game with 15 hits with four of those going for doubles. Tré Obregon III had two of those doubles and knocked in three runs while
Schuyler Thibodaux added a double and ended the game 2-for-4 at the plate with three RBIs.
Cooper Hext went 3-for-5 with a RBI and three runs scored while
Kade Hunter and
Josh Leslie each recorded two hits.
Ty Abraham followed Rogers on the mound and threw two scoreless innings while allowing one hit and striking out five of the nine batters he faced.
Christian Vega three the final three innings to pick up his third save on the year.
The win gave head coach
Justin Hill his 299
th career victory. He'll go for milestone No. 300 on Friday.
