LAKE CHARLES – Dana Dunbar, who has spent the past two seasons as the Director of Softball Operations for the Southland Conference champion McNeese Cowgirls, has moved into an administrative role within athletic department in the newly created position of Coordinator of Compliance and Student-Athlete Services, Director of Athletics Heath Schroyer announced on Tuesday.

Dunbar's primary focus will be working closely with the NCAA on behalf of McNeese student-athletes.

"I'm really excited about our new compliance position and the addition of Dana to the administrative team," commented Schroyer. "Dana is smart, extremely organized and has a work ethic I value and is a requirement to work in this department.

"With the landscape of college athletics changing as fast as it is, I wanted to add an additional compliance person to our staff. Having Dana on board will allow our entire compliance staff to operate more efficiently and insure we continue to be compliant with the ever-changing NCAA landscape."

A native of Chadron, Nebraska, Dunbar earned her bachelor's degree in business management in 2021 from Northwest Missouri State.

Dunbar played softball for Des Moines Area Community College from 2018-2019 where she served as captain of the third place NJCAA College World Series team. While playing for the Bears, Dunbar's accolades included being named to the ICCAC Second Team All-Region, ICCAC First Team All-Regional Academic, and Second Team NJCAA All-Academic.
