HOUSTON, Texas— McNeese softball closed out the regular season with a 1-0 win over Houston Christian Saturday to complete the series sweep over the Huskies.
With the win, McNeese improves to 41-14 overall and 21-3 in the SLC while the Huskies fall to 20-31 overall and 9-15 in the SLC.

Kaylee Lopez in the second inning and that run held up until the end.
Shaelyn Sanders kept the Huskies off balance from the circle, allowing only four hits including only one extra base hit, one strikeout and only one walk in the complete game shutout to remain undefeated at 7-0 on the year.
McNeese picked up seven hits in the game with Ardoin leading the way with a 2 for 2 day along with one walk. Of the seven Cowgirl hits, Lopez,
Chloe Gomez, and
Corine Poncho all had one double apiece in the game.
The 2023 regular season champions, McNeese will now turn its attention to next week's Southland Conference Championship May 9-12 in Lake Charles. The No. 1 seed Cowgirls earned a first round bye and will play its first game at 11 a.m. Wednesday against the winner of Tuesday's 11 a.m. game between the #4/#5 seed.
The tournament bracket will be released by the Southland Conference office once all games are completed.
