PROVO, Utah— McNeese volleyball ended the BYU dôTERRA Classic Friday night with a 3-1 (25-10 20-25, 25-14, 25-16) loss to UC Davis to fall to 0-6 on the season. The Aggies improve to 3-1 on the year.
Carissa Chainey led the Cowgirls with 13 kills and
Emma Hendricks dished out a match high 21 assists while
Bailey Tillman recorded double figure digs for the third time this season with a match high 13.
McNeese will host Southern next Tuesday, Sept. 5 in its home opener. First serve is set for 6:30 p.m. at the Legacy Center.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Set 1
• Following a 2-2 early tie, UC Davis put together an 11-4 run to lead 13-6. After a kill by
Carissa Chainey, UC Davis put together another run to take a 20-9 lead before taking the opening set 25-10.
Set 2
• McNeese evened the match with the second set win that saw the Cowgirls come back from an early deficit. With the set tied at 15, McNeese went on a 9-3 run to take a 24-16 lead. UC Davis fought off five set points before the Cowgirls won the set 25-20.
Set 3
• UC Davis took the early lead and never gave it up, extending the lead to 8-3 and then 12-6
• A 4-0 run by the Cowgirls pulled them to withing two points (12-10) on a
Carissa Chainey kill and a service ace by
McKenzie Moore.
• UC Davis then outscored McNeese 7-1 to lead 19-11 and close out the set with a 25-14 win.
Set 4
• The set was back and forth for the first 10 points before UC Davis took a 12-6 lead.
• McNeese cut the lead to two (13-11) on an Aggie ball handling error
• McNeese cut the lead to four points (18-14) on a
Kayla Wilson kill
