LAKE CHARLES- McNeese women's basketball returns home this weekend to host two of three teams currently undefeated in league play.  Both games will stream live on ESPN+.
 
The Cowgirls will host Lamar in its Southland Conference home opener and "Battle of the Border" game at 7 p.m. Thursday.  The Cowgirls will face Southeastern in a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday.
 
McNeese (4-11, 0-2 SLC) will look to get off to better starts than in its previous two SLC contest.  The Cowgirls opened SLC play with a 78-54 loss at Northwestern State last Thursday before closing out the weekend with an 87-78 loss at Texas A&M-Commerce.  The Cowgirls enter the game on a four-game losing streak and have lost six of its last seven games.
 
In both games last weekend, the Cowgirls fell behind in the early minutes of the game and never recovered including a 40-point game by 
Emilia Tenbrock in the loss at Texas A&M Commerce.
 
Tenbrock leads the Cowgirls in scoring with 14.7 ppg.  
Mireia Yespes is averaging 10.0 ppg. off the bench and leads the team with 5.2 rpg.
 
Lamar (8-4, 2-0 SLC), who was picked to finish third in the preseason poll, opened SLC play with home wins over Incarnate Word and Northwestern State.  The Cardinals are led in scoring by Sabrina Dean (13.1 ppg.) while Akasha Davis leads with 8.5 rpg.
