WBB: Cowgirls Conclude Homestand Against A&M-Commerce Thursday Night

LAKE CHARLES-  McNeese women's basketball will conclude its three game homestand Thursday night when the Cowgirls host Texas A&M-Commerce in it Play4Kay game which is an initiative to support breast cancer survivors.  Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. at the Legacy Center. The game will be streamed on ESPN+.
 
McNeese (4-17, 0-8 SLC) is coming off a 74-59 loss to New Orleans on Saturday that extended the Cowgirls' losing streak to 10 games.  McNeese is still looking to not only pick up its first conference win of the season but is still attempting to win its first Division I win of the season.
 
A&M-Commerce (9-9, 4-4 SLC) snapped its two-game losing streak with a 71-67 home win against Nicholls last Saturday.  The Lions enter Thursday's game having won three of its last five games.
 
It will be the second meeting of the season between the two teams.  A&M-Commerce defeated McNeese 87-78 in Commerce, Texas on Jan. 6, the second Southland Conference game of the season. In the loss, Emilia Tenbrock ended the game with 40 points on 14 of 26 from the field including 4 of 9 from three-point range and was 8 of 9 from the free throw line.
 
Tenbrock leads the SLC in scoring (15.4 ppg.) and three-point field goal percent (43.8).  Mireia Yespes leads the team with 5.1 rpg. and is also averaging in double figures (10.5 ppg.).  Yespes ranks third in the SLC with a 51.8 field goal percent.

•McNeese ranks second in the SLC in scoring (66.4 ppg.) but are giving up the most points (81.0)
• McNeese ranks fourth in assists (13.0)
• Emilia Tenbrock leads the SLC leads McNeese in scoring (15.4 ppg.) and 3-point field goal percent (43.8)
• Tenbrock has scored in double figures in 12 out of the last 14 games, scoring at least 20 or more points in each six out of the last 10 games
• Mireia Yespes is also averaging in double figures with 10.5 ppg. and leads the team with 5.1 rpg.
• Yespes ranks third in the SLC with a 51.8 field goal percent.
• Boston Berry leads McNeese and is tied for the league high with 3.3 assists per game
